If you could learn a new instrument, what would you choose?

I've always wanted to learn to play the guitar but lately I can't get the harmonica out of my head... I'd love to learn how to play and have been looking into getting one just to mess around with for starters. I HAVE been known for 'fly by' ideas...

Do you believe there is value in suffering?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 11, 2009:

Absolutely! If we didn't know pain and suffering, how could we understand happiness and joy? We would have nothing to compare it to.

What's been your path in life?

Posted on Dec 20th, 2007 by dragonfly813 : Peace Seeker dragonfly813
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 15, 2007:

If I had to choose one word to describe my path in life so far it would be... Thorny. Not to say that it has been a bad path because as the saying goes, "Every rose has it's thorns"... I'm actually a better and stronger person for enduring the hardships that I have throughout my life and I wouldn't change my experiences. Someone I care about recently told me that this line of thinking was simply crap... that everyone would change a horrific experience in their past if they could... I simply disagree. For me, my rocky roads are what brought me to where I am right now. I would be someone and be somewhere completely different had I chosen different paths or had different events occur in my life. I am good with me now and good with where I am so I am happy to say that I embrace the thorns of my past and welcome any new ones that pop up along the way. They are what shape and mold us. They are what make us the colorful people we are.

Do you think it's more important to be compassionate or fair?

Posted on Dec 20th, 2007 by dragonfly813 : Peace Seeker dragonfly813
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 14, 2007:

This is a very vague question here. I think fairness and compassion most often should go hand in hand, yet in some circumstances fairness must take precedence in order to keep our way of life as we know it balanced. Granted, I am a very compassionate person at heart, but still try to rule with fairness when it comes to matters that have a great impact in or on our lives.

Love In The Absence of Fear

Love In The Absence of Fear

It seems to me that we throw this word around so frequently that the true meaning of it gets lost in the shuffle.

But what is the meaning of love exactly?

I suppose it means different things for many different people. It certainly does for me. It has meant different things to me personally for different relationships and situations, sometimes even simultaneously... so how can there even be an actual definition that fits everyone?

Simply put, there cannot be such a definition in my opinion.

Speaking of romantic love... for me, it is creation.  The raw pure energy of true balanced love is creation.  It is what forms life, and what forms balance.  We all have a balance.  It's simply, or not so simply, a matter of finding that bal

ance. At this pont in my life, I am in search of that balance...

Love is someone who we are energized by and who in turn energizes us.  It's so rare to find that person.  It's different than a soulmate.  We have so many soulmates.  Many loves, of different kinds.  They come into our lives for different reasons and seasons... All come into our being to help us create and continue the circle of creation, until we complete the circle and return to the source......or to start all over again... No one knows for sure what's to come as there hasn't been anyone to return to enlighten us on what becomes of us.

When that person who DOES energize us and we them, finally do make their grand or not so grand appearance into our lives... we know it.

It may be the wrong time. It may be complicated. There may be outside factors and influences that prevent you from jumping in with both feet, but you KNOW. You feel it deep in your bones and on a completely different level than you've ever experienced before.

 Plainly put, it's PURE.

I think a long time ago people really understood balance.  Now, we understand fear.  Fear of losing love, rather than running to it... rather than accepting it with open arms... rather than embracing it.

Everyone is in search of something... Be it love, peace, balance, serenity, etc... My advice? When it knocks on your door... Answer it! Welcome it in with open arms and with an absence of fear.
